Human Vibration |
|
Vibration affects us in a variety of ways, from annoyance when the underground train rattles the china, to damage caused by extended exposure to machinery in the workplace. In a sense, the measurement requirements are very similar to workplace and environmental noise, but human vibration measurement is still regarded by many as a black art.
To solve this problem, we now offer a comprehensive range of equipment for measuring hand/arm and whole-body vibration, so assessments are no more difficult than noise surveys. |
|
Whole-Body Vibration |
|
In this field, there are three types of measurement – occupational exposure, annoyance and building damage.
For all three applications, we offer the Svan 958, which is a triaxial instrument measuring in X,Y and Z simultaneously.
Frequency weightings are standard for BS6472 and ISO8041 requirements, and we offer complete kits including ‘whoopee cushion’ seat pads or high sensitivity |
|
accelerometers with responses down to 1Hz.
Measurement parameters include PPV and VDV.
The 958 is an amazingly powerful instrument for a hand-held format, and you can also measure noise at the same time in the 4th channel. |

Hand/Arm Vibration |
|
Vibration white finger is becoming a serious problem in industries where power tools are used, such as mining and metal fabrication.
The EC Physical Agents Directive defines the limits for whole-body or hand/arm vibration, with tough measurement procedures.
Once again, the 958 is equipped with a specialised triaxial hand/arm transducer, with a choice of three mounting adapters.
Now it’s quick and easy to comply with the standards, and compare results with a built-in dose calculator |
|
Transducer Kits |
|
We offer a choice of transducer sets for either whole-body or hand/arm vibration measurements, from Dytran.
For hand/arm vibration, the SV50 includes the 3023M2 triaxial accelerometer, and comes with three different mounting adapters, according to your application.
For seat vibration, there’s the SV39A/L ‘Whoopee Cushion’, which has the advantage of a removable transducer, which makes field calibration possible. |
