No analysis system is complete without the transducers, be they microphones & intensity probes for acoustics, or accelerometers & hammers for vibration.

Our transducers come from GRAS Sound & Vibration in Denmark, Dytran in the USA, and AP Technology in the Netherlands.

Founded 15 years ago by Gunnar Rasmussen, after leaving Brüel & Kjær after 43 years, GRAS Sound & Vibration offers the only real alternative to B&K microphones in the precision measurement market.

Based on a lifetime’s experience of microphone design, Gunnar has produced a wide range of condenser microphones, with associated preamplifiers and power supplies.

With his vast experience in the development of sound intensity techniques, it is only natural to see a top specification intensity probe in the range along with a unique calibrator.

Constantly innovating, GRAS has moved to new larger premises, ensuring good stock levels and very reasonable pricing

Finally, many of Gunnar’s outdoor microphones are to be seen at the world’s airports, monitoring aircraft and community noise in all weather conditions.

To complete your vibration measurement system, we can supply accelerometers from a huge catalogue, with either IEPE powering or with standard charge output, for direct connection to any of our PC-based systems or hand-held instruments. Whether the application is low-level ground vibration or high temperature measurements on engines, we can find you the right transducer.

For modal testing, an instrumented hammer is indispensable, with compensated force transducer.

All transducers are individually calibrated, and we can advise on any specific configuration to suit your measurement requirements

Calibrators

No measurement is really valid without some sort of portable calibration reference.

We offer an excellent Class 1 sound level calibrator from Svantek, with both 94 and 114dB levels at 1kHz. With an in-built reference microphone, the SV30A is super-stable and can be supplied with UKAS certification.

On the vibration side, we offer the AT01, which gives a controlled 10m/s2 output at 160Hz, and handles a wide range of accelerometer masses—perfect for a hand-held device!
